Mr Crutchfield was presented with his Gould League Centennial Ambassadorship at the beautiful Jirrahlinga Koala and Wildlife Sanctuary near Geelong on Wednesday October 28, 2009. He issued the following statement:

"I am delighted to be a Gould League Ambassador.

As a long time nature lover and very keen bird watcher, I believe environmental and sustainable education is vital within our schools, community, businesses and government.

Being an Ambassador for one of Australia’s leading environmental innovators and leaders in environmental education is a privilege I do not take lightly.

The Gould League’s programs assist individuals, families and communities to adopt more environmentally sustainable lifestyles for the betterment of the local, State, national and world environment.

With climate change likely to have a major impact on our country, it is vital that we as individuals, communities, businesses and government do all we can to limit and reduce these effects.

The first step in tackling this problem is through education, and that is why I support the Gould League.

Over the decades Gould has been at the forefront of environmental education with students who in turn have significant influence on family and friends and our future leaders. Indeed I fondly remember the Gould League as a young student myself.

We must all work together locally, nationally and internationally to ensure we make significant behavioural change not only for the betterment of our environment, but the world environment."

Chris Darwin

Great-great-great grandson of Charles Darwin

"Bird conservation is a very noble undertaking. I'm delighted to be supportive of the Gould League's work."
