Shared Memories

This is just a small selection of the memories you have shared with us - many more are to come. Following each name is the date ofthe person's earliest involvement with the Gould League and the school at which they were introduced. The Gould League's amazing programs continue to have a lifelong influence.

"My Grandmother was a member in about 1912. I have her certificate. Te patron at the time was Sir James Barrett."

"As a primary school student at Numurkah Primary School I entered the competitions and painted pictures of birds and received certificates for these.
As an adult I used Gould League posters and teaching materials while teaching Primary School students."

"As part of our school program, nature study walks were a regular weekly happening. We had a lane nearby full of native plants and shrubs and it was just alive with birds, many of which I never see any more."

Mrs Tina Costanzo (1966, Cronulla Public School)
"We had a Young Farmers' Club and a Gould League Club. Every month (in Grade 6) we would submit a drawing of an Australian bird which was given a mark out of 5. By the end of the year, the person with the most points chose a book as their prize."

"Canley Vale Public School had a special teacher who belonged to the Gould League and showed all the children beautiful pictures of birds which the children loved."
