The Sustainables Challenge
The Sustainables family of superheroes has recruited students from a further 40 schools to help them save the planet.
This year the program is running during Terms 2 and 3 with participating schools from the metropolitan Melbourne region, City of Greater Geelong and Surf Coast Shire areas.
What is The Sustainables Challenge?
The Sustainables family are helping to save the planet by following 10 rules for sustainable living:
- Take a four minute power shower
- Turn off lights and appliances at the switch when not in use
- Buy renewable energy, by signing up to Green Power with your electricity provider
- Buy the most energy and water efficient appliances you can afford
- Take re-usable bags with you when you go shopping
- Put your food or plant scraps in the compost or a worm farm
- Look for products without unnecessary packaging
- Walk, cycle or use public transport when you can - and leave the car at home
- Grow plants native to your area in your garden
- Go chemical free when you clean
