Melbourne Wildlife Sanctuary
Encouraging environmental stewardship through educational programs and effective management of natural assets.
Gould Group developed and ran school programs for the Melbourne Wildlife Sanctuary at La Trobe University’s Bundoora Campus in Melbourne. Gould Group complemented the educational programs with effective management and booking procedures to cater for the growing number of visitors.
Educational programs included:
- Discovering how wetlands animals and plants are connected and why wetlands are so important
Hands-on demonstrations showing how to preserve habitat and the wildlife that lives there
- Inspecting the live streaming and recorded footage from the Australian Wildlife Cams website
- Spotlight tours to discover the bush at night
- Science in the Bush – exploring the principles of chemistry, physics and biology using the bush
As an additional contribution to its partnership with the Melbourne Wildlife Sanctuary, Gould Group secured a $25,000 grant from the R.E. Ross Trust for a section of the predator proof fence and a small grant from the George Alexander Foundation to develop a series of interpretive panels.
