Vote by Nov 9th for GL to win $1000 to host a "Fix It! Community Repair Workshop"

We all know about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle but what about Repair? Often we simply don't have the time, skills or resources to fix broken household items. Gould League plans to host a Fix It! Community Workshop Day at their Sustainability Centre: a free, friendly get-together where skilled volunteers guide community members through repairing (or re-imagining) their broken items!

Please give your 10 votes for Gould League by Friday 9th November via: http://leaderlocalgrants.com.au/idea/fix-it-community-workshop-day

Why you should get involved ... How you can help

Why you should get involved

Our Environment, our Responsibility

Getting involved by planting plants.Environmental sustainability is THE critical issue of our time. It has been too easy to focus on the very real threats to the natural environment; however 80% of Australians live in urban areas, one of the highest rates of urbanisation in the world. The impact of our urban lifestyle is enormous and our challenge is to change the way we think, the way we live and how we do business to be more environmentally sustainable.

Australia is the second driest continent with a very high standard of living which in the current environment equates to high consumption of fossil fuels and energy, enormous rubbish disposal and high rates of consumerism and consumption.

Plant growing in rockThis lifestyle is not sustainable even in the short term either on a global perspective or in relation to Australia’s resources. We need to develop a lifestyle which uses resources efficiently and sustainably but nevertheless retains the quality of life which we all enjoy.

Australians have made some progress towards embracing sustainability practices.  Overall the level of awareness and understanding of what simple yet effective activities that can be put into place is very low.

Established native treesThe Gould League is at the forefront of developing and delivering programs in sustainability education and training which will make a difference and impact on the way in which all Australians live and work and be aware and proactive about their impact on the natural and built environment.

This issue is of paramount importance for Australians. We cannot wait for the next generation to solve these increasingly urgent problems. The education, training and involvement of all Australians in issues of environmental sustainability are critical.

How you can help

Since 1909 the Gould League has been providing environmental education for the community and schools across Australia.  Today we deliver extensive environment education programs and training in sustainability. Gould League is a registered charity and welcomes donations, bequests or any form of corporate support for its activities or programs. Here's how you can help Gould League to help others:

Supporting Environmental Education in Schools

Gould League welcomes donations, sponsorships and in-kind support from business partners to help extend our award-winning programs into more schools across Australia.

Donations

Donations from individuals, companies or prescribed private funds (PPFs) are greatly valued to support services or programs delivered and managed by the Gould League.

Workplace Giving

Workplace Giving is a payroll contribution scheme where direct pre-tax donations from registered employees support our work to provide school and community education programs to value and care for the environment for generations to come.

Volunteering

We welcome volunteers and endeavour to provide excellent opportunities and support. Recent volunteers have assisted with projects as diverse as gardening, marketing and PR activities, setting up for student programs and assisting with our Multicultural School Gardens program.

Your membership is a valuable commitment to the Gould League and provides you with an opportunity to participate in our Annual General Meetings, receive shop discounts and also stay up to date with all the Gould League news.

Corporate Partnerships

Corporate partnerships are important strategic alliances between major organisations and the Gould League, building effective and beneficial relationships. The Gould League values its partners and endeavours to build effective long term relationships.

Sponsorships and in-kind support

Providing services, resources or support as an in-kind sponsorship makes an enormous difference to our capabilities, allowing us to focus our limited resources on our core mission of education.
