Federation Square Goes to the Frogs

Gould Group celebrated World Environment Day 2006 at Federation Square in Melbourne with lots of froggy fun and environmental messages from students featured on the Optus Messageboards.

The event achieved extensive television, radio and print media coverage raising awareness of World Environment Day and the role of frogs as sensitive environmental barometers.

Over 100 students attended in person and many more participated by emailing or SMSing their environmental messages.

This great day featured :

  • Mass frog calling including a celebrity frog call from the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Environment and Heritage, Greg Hunt,
  • Live frog display hosted by Gerry Marantelli from the Amphibian Research Centre
  • Green handball with Tim Walsh and Shane Birss from the Western Bulldogs Football Club
  • Froggy face painting
  • Leapfrog relays
  • World Environment Day quiz
  • Sending SMS environmental messages to the Optus Messageboard
