Wading birds are flocking to migrate; Double-banded plovers return to New Zealand; around our bays and estuaries thousands of curlews, green shags, sandpipers, plovers, knots and stints are gathering in pre-migration flocks; the red-capped plover and the black-fronted dotterel are starting to form their own over-wintering flocks
North
Beaches: sleeping dugongs float in the channels; green turtles return to northern coast; box jellyfish migrate up creeks to spawn.
South
Beach; flame robins feed on seaweed insects & crustaceans before heading north; sea snakes appear along southern coast; baby cowfish in rockpools; baby squids wash up; many swamp harriers cross strait from Tasmania
