Small neat brown "purses" can be found amongst the beach-washed kelps and bubble- weeds. these are the egg-cases of primitive sharks and rays like catsharks, draughtsboard sharks, skates, Port Jackson Sharks and the Elephant shark.
North
Beach: ospreys nest; sea-eagles nest
South
Beach: gannets diving offshore; black cormorants move in large flocks; cuttefish eggs and dogfish egg cases wash up; seals and dolphins come into inlets; after storms dogfish egg-cases, cuttlefish egg clusters and exhausted prion seabirds wash in; gannets & albatrosses close to shore; brown strapweed flowering

Beach: low tides, strong winds; Green and Flatback turtles are courting; crested terns begin nesting; barramundi & threadfins are close to shore

Beach: greenfinches feeding on sea rocket seeds; cuckoo shrikes cross Bass Strait; little prion seabirds washing up; swimming anemones in rock pools; running postman in flower on back dunes; dolphins come into bays; pink robins cross Bass Strait; greenfinches feed on saltbush berries; albatrosses enter bays.
