DANGERS
Sunburn
The most common and dangerous injury at the beach is sunburn. Even on overcast days you can get sunburned. Always wear sunscreen and a hat.
Drowning
The most common cause of death at beaches is drowning. Don't go out on rock platforms where large waves are breaking.
Cuts
Avoid areas where there is broken glass, and never take glass bottles to the beach. Barnacles and rocks can be sharp too. Wear old runners when rockpooling.
Dangerous rockpool creatures
These creatures don't come looking for you. They will sting or bite only to defend themselves. One simple rule will keep you safe while you explore: Always keep your hands where you can see them.
